Banana Cargo Bookmarks

Bookmarking website produced in response to a self initiated brief in the university.

One of my goals was to create a different user experience compared to the existing bookmark exchange websites which are based on lists of links and countless scrollable pages. The result is a site which is designed with no scroll bars, but is highly interactive and has a simple interface of registering and adding the bookmarks: The link is automatically followed by the script to fetch the page title and attempt fetching images and keywords. This makes it very easy to add bookmarks, as there is virtually no typing involved.

You can drag this page to see wider images.

Adding the bookmarks is a breeze with the dynamic tool that grabs the bookmarked page
in real time and shows a sample of images to assign to the bookmark.
The title to be used is also populated automatically.

The home page of the site features keywords and top websites:

While developing this project I've hit a stage when the home page was not catching the attention deserved.
I decided to redesign it completely and came up with the idea of creating the illustration with the octopus.
Here is my first sketch of the monster:

I gradually retouched this drawing into what you see on the site now.
There is still a lot that can be done, I would like to make the illustration very photographic.
